“My painting is subject to influences … From the hot summer near the creeks, to the dry and violent wind of scrubland, the summer night, dark, deep and delicious. The stiffness of a brush, a solar and pasty yellow coming out of the tube. From what passes before my eyes: a glorious snowy mountain, the expanse of the Atlantic (with the dream of America), or the movement of his naked body coming towards me. From my reading, my friends, my bank account, my childhood garden, my confused dreams, the spring snow in the workshop yard, my ambitions and the time left … Of this ever-present energy, eternally available and changing, that it is necessary at every moment to know how to welcome. “
Marc Tanguy is a painter, watercolourist and engraver. After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and Arts Décos, where he was a student of Zao Wou Ki, he devoted himself exclusively to painting.
